This is the place where the scholar Kim Inhu (pen name Haseo) retired from office and lived in seclusion after the Eulsa Purge occurred in the inaugural year of King Myeongjong (1545). Kim Inhu is said to have been especially fond of the landscape around Nakdeok Rock, where he enjoyed nature and taught Neo-Confucianism to later generations. In 1900 (4th year of Gwangmu), following the prophecy of Kim Nosu that great talents would emerge from this place in the future, a pavilion was built atop Nakdeok Rock and has remained to this day.
