Namgang Seowon is a Confucian academy located in Namsan-ri, Gakbuk-myeon, Cheongdo-gun. It was founded in 1864 at the recommendation of local Confucian scholars in order to enshrine the Joseon-era scholars Bak Han-ju and Bak Su-chun. Demolished in 1868, it was rebuilt in 2000 with donations from the Saudang branch of the Gukdam lineage of the Miryang Bak clan. The clan holds memorial rites each year in March and August and maintains the academy. Upon entering the mountain-shaped main gate erected at the front, one finds, across a courtyard, the lecture hall—a tiled building with a hip-and-gable roof—flanked on either side by the eastern and western dormitories. On the sloping ground behind the lecture hall stands the shrine, Yanghyeonsa.
