Bangyo Village is located on the eastern slopes of Ami Mountain, with the Bangyo Stream flowing in front of the village. The name originally came from the use of wooden plank bridges (pan-gyo in Korean), which over time became 'bangyo'. The village was established by the Naju Jeong clan and retains the ambiance and beauty of a traditional rural community. In the old days, the village had many pear trees, earning it the nickname 'Pear Tree Valley', and due to the many boulders from Ami Mountain, it was also called 'Dopakgol'. The entire village is enclosed by long stone walls. The 'Old Stone Walls of Buyeo Bangyo Village', a nationally registered cultural heritage site, is a representative example of stone wall heritage in the Chungcheong region. These walls were built using natural uncut stone from Ami Mountain; the base is approximately 90 cm wide and the walls taper slightly toward the top for structural stability. The walls are taller than in other villages because they were built as windbreaks against mountain winds. The village includes the Jabuyeo Youth Hostel and Hyuhyudang, where Yu Hong-jun, a former director of the Cultural Heritage Administration, reportedly stays. Nearby attractions include Ami Mountain, Suribawi Rock, Mansusan Mountain, and Muryangsa Temple.
