About this place

This is the restored birthplace of Song Heung-rok (1801–1863), the revered 'King of Singers' who founded the Dongpyeonje style of pansori, and gukchang (national singing master) Park Cho-wol. Ten households were relocated and the site was restored on July 28, 2000, in the style of thatched-roof houses of the era. Song Heung-rok mastered the slow jinyang rhythm of pansori and received the rank of Tongjeongtaebu (senior third rank) in 1859.
