President Yun Po-sun served as the 4th President of the Republic of Korea and was the first president under the constitutionally first parliamentary system. Born as the eldest son of Yun Chi-so of the Central Council and Yi Beom-suk, the eldest daughter of Yi Jae-ryong of the Central Council. In 1913 he went to study in Japan, then followed Yeo Un-hyeong to Shanghai and joined the Shanghai Provisional Government, devoting himself to the independence movement at a young age. He later studied archaeology at Oxford and Edinburgh Universities in Britain. After liberation, he rose through positions as Seoul Mayor and Minister of Commerce and Industry, but when Rhee Syngman pursued long-term power through various constitutional amendments, Yun Po-sun integrated opposition parties to create the Democratic Party and was elected as the 3rd, 4th, and 5th National Assemblymen. In 1960, following the April 19 Revolution, Yun Po-sun was elected as president under the parliamentary system at a joint session of the National Assembly. However, in 1961, the 5.16 military coup forced him to resign. His birthplace is located in Singhang-ri, Dunpo-myeon, Asan, designated as National Folk Cultural Heritage No. 196 in December 1984.
