This is the site associated with Admiral Yi Sun-sin (1545–1598), the great naval hero of the Joseon Dynasty who repelled the Japanese invasions. The Hyeonchungsa shrine enshrines his portrait and commemorates his extraordinary military contributions. The complex includes the shrine, memorial hall, and related historic structures.
