Built in the early 1900s, the house covers an area of 4,770 m2. It is a residential building from the Japanese colonial period and was designated a Chungcheongnam-do Folk Cultural Heritage on October 31, 2005, recognized as a valuable resource for local history and architectural history. Yu Gibang House faces south, set against a low wooded hillside. The main building (anchae) to the north is an L-shaped structure, with servant's quarters (haengnanggchae) to the west, and a later-built house to the east, enclosing an inner courtyard. The middle gate building (jungmunchae) that originally stood in front of the main building was demolished in 1988 and replaced with the current two-story pavilion-style gate building.
