Gyeolseong Confucian School's exact founding date is unclear, but tradition holds it was established in the 1st year of King Hyeonjong of Goryeo (1010). It was repaired in the 1st year of King Injo (1623), the 15th year of King Hyeonjong (1674), and the 8th year of King Sunjo (1808) of Joseon, then underwent major renovation in 1923.
