Jalakjeong was originally built by Kim Yeongho, a private scholar, and Inspector Bak Sugi of the Joseon era, but was rebuilt by their descendants in 1924 after the original building deteriorated. 'Jalak' means 'to enjoy oneself,' reflecting Bak Giisu's spirit of living in harmony with nature. The building is two bays wide and two bays deep. The beautiful surrounding scenery, the clear water of Pungcheon Stream, and a pavilion harmoniously perched on a rock formation rising like an island make this one of the most celebrated scenic spots.
