Yeongsuam Hermitage is a branch temple of Magoksa, the head temple of the 6th district of the Korean Buddhist Jogye Order. According to temple records, a hermitage called Yeongsuam existed on the peak of Toemaeson Mountain about 500 years ago, and moved to its current location approximately 100 years ago. The temple buildings include the Daeungjeon main hall, the Seopbeopjeon (dharma lecture hall), the Sanshin-gak (mountain spirit shrine), and the yosachae (monks' quarters). Inside the Daeungjeon, a triad of the Three World Honored Ones is enshrined. Among these, the wooden seated bodhisattva figure was designated as a Chungnam Cultural Heritage Material on September 20, 2007. The Daeungjeon is in an L-shaped configuration — four bays on the front and either two or three bays on the sides — and appears to have formerly been a private residence that was converted for use as a main hall. Behind the Daeungjeon, the Sanshin-gak is a single-bay structure with a gabled roof, enshrining the hanging paintings of Dokseong (the solitary saint), Sanshin (mountain spirit), and Chilseong (Seven Stars).
