About this place

The Goryeong Anhwari Rock Carvings are petroglyphs carved into rock faces by prehistoric people. On a rock surface measuring 115 cm wide by 90 cm tall, three images were incised using a pecking technique. The basic motif is a U-shaped semicircle, with symmetrically placed bow-shaped lines on either side; the right figure also has small cup marks. Two or three similar designs appear on the cliff face above. The similarity to the Yeongil Chilpori petroglyphs suggests that coastal and inland inhabitants shared the same ritual traditions.
