Noseong Hyanggyo

Noseong Hyanggyo is a Confucian school (hyanggyo) founded in the early Joseon period. It was later repaired twice, in 1967 and 1975. The Daeseongjeon (main shrine), Myeongnyundang (lecture hall), Dongjae and Seojae (east and west dormitories), Sammun (three-way gate), and other buildings still remain, and the Daeseongjeon enshrines the memorial tablets of 18 sages, Confucian scholars of China and Joseon. The Seokjeonje (a rite honoring Confucius) is held in spring and autumn. In front of Noseong Hyanggyo there is a small square-shaped pond, and the crape myrtle blossoms in front of the outer three-way gate are beautiful. Right next to it stands Myeongjae Historic House, a traditional hanok of the late Joseon period where visitors can experience hanok life; within the village is the Gwollisa temple, and nearby is Noseong Mountain Fortress.
