Haklimsa is a Buddhist temple located on the slopes of Gyeryongsan in Hakbong-ri, Banpo-myeon, Gongju-si, South Chungcheong Province. Local oral tradition holds that an ancient temple called Jeseoksa (帝釋寺) once stood here but was destroyed during the Japanese invasions of the 1590s. Haklimsa was re-founded in August 1986 with the Venerable Go-am (古庵) as witness and Venerable Haksan Daewon as the founding abbot. The surrounding Cheongnyong Valley provides a pure, tranquil environment, and the temple is well-known as a templestay destination attracting many visitors each year.
