The old missionary residence in Junghak-dong, Gongju was built as a residence for American Methodist missionary pastors. Since the early 20th century, it has been a building that symbolizes not only the missionary work of missionaries in Gongju, but also the start of education by Yeongmyeong School, which celebrated its 100th anniversary. It is a three-story red brick building with the staircase and each floor connected in a skip-floor style. The old missionary residence is designated as registered cultural heritage and is included in the 'Road of Yu Gwan-sun' designated by the Gongju Christian History Committee. Visiting Yeongmyeong School, which the martyr attended, and Gongju First Methodist Church, which printed the Taegukgi (national flag) and conducted independence movement activities, offers a good opportunity to follow the footsteps of independence activist Yu Gwan-sun.
