Gusan Seowon in Jinan-gun, Jeollabuk-do was founded in 1828 (the 28th year of King Sunjo) to enshrine Song Bo-san, and was demolished in 1868 (the 5th year of King Gojong). In 1949, an altar was re-established and memorial rites performed, and in 1967 it was rebuilt; in 1967, Kim Mun-gi and Song Rim were added to the enshrinement at the proposal of the Jinan Confucian community. Gusan Seowon is situated next to the great bend where the Seomjin River and Sedong Stream meet on the southwestern outskirts of Jinan. The Gusan Seowon, which trained later scholars during the Joseon period, and the Gusansa, which enshrined Son Hyeon, once stood together here.
