Unam Seowon (Uljin)

Unam Seowon was built in 1826 (26th year of King Sunjo) in Noeun-dong, Giseong-myeon, and enshrined Kim Je and Son Sun-hyo, but was abolished in 1868 (5th year of King Gojong). In 1964, at the initiative of the academy's Confucian students, it was relocated to Guin-ri. In October 1995, the academy was repaired, its flat three-gate was rebuilt, and a surrounding wall was installed. At present, within Unam Seowon, the flat three-gate, the lecture hall, and the shrine are arranged in a straight line, with a stele pavilion beside the shrine. The lecture hall measures four bays across the front and two bays deep, with a hip-and-gable roof of ridged tiles. Its plan is of the jungdang-hyeopsil type, with a half-bay veranda installed at the front. The shrine measures three bays across the front and one bay deep, with a gable roof of ridged tiles.
