자인향교

About this place

자인local Confucian school는 Goryeo 공민king(r. 1351∼1374) 때 지어진 Joseon 시대 경상도 자인현에 construction/establishment된 공립 교육 기관이다. Joseon King Myeongjong(r. 1545∼1567) 때 다시 지었으나, Imjin War (Japanese Invasions of Korea, 1592–1598) 때 불타 없어졌다. King Gwanghaegun 7년(1615)에 도천산 아래로 옮겼다가 King Yeongjo 4년(1728)에 지금 있는 자리로 옮겨 세웠다. 1900년과 1922년에 Daeseungjeon (Confucian shrine hall)을 수리하였고, 1924년에 Myeongnyundang (lecture hall)을, 1926년에 다시 Daeseungjeon (Confucian shrine hall)을 수리하였다. 지금 남아 있는 건물은 Daeseungjeon (Confucian shrine hall), Myeongnyundang (lecture hall), 모성루, 동재 등이다. Daeseungjeon (Confucian shrine hall)에는 공자를 중심으로 그의 제자와 중국과 우리나라 성현의 spirit tablet를 모시고 있다.
