About this place

Palgwajeong Pavilion faces the Geum River and is traditionally said to have been built by the great Joseon Confucian scholar Song Si-yeol (Uam) in the 4th year of King Injo (1626), as a place to honor and study the teachings of Yi Hwang (Toegye) and Yi I (Yulgok) and to lecture his disciples. The three-bay-wide pavilion faces south and features an elegant hipped-and-gabled roof. Poetry plaques hang inside, and characters carved by Song Si-yeol are visible on the rock behind the structure.
