Songgok Confucian Academy in Seosan was founded to honor Jeong Sin-bo, the founding ancestor of the Seosan Jeong clan. Jeong Sin-bo was originally from Song Dynasty China and emigrated to Goryeo after his country fell, settling in Seosan. The academy was established in the 20th year of King Sukjong (1694), demolished under the Heungseon Daewongun's edict in 1871, and rebuilt in 1910 by Confucian scholars. The main hall enshrines nine figures including Jeong Sin-bo.
