Hwasan Seowon in Jinan-gun is a shrine and seowon of the Jangsu Hwang clan that enshrines the portrait of Hwang Hui (Bancheun) and venerates him and his descendants Hwang Bosin and Hwang Bal. Hwang Hui was a renowned official of the late Goryeo and early Joseon dynasties, celebrated as a great prime minister. According to records on the plaques in the seowon's lecture hall, it was elevated to seowon status in 1922 and renovated in February 1970. The seowon is surrounded by a rectangular fence on a flat site, divided into north and south sections: the south-facing shrine stands at the center rear, the west-facing lecture hall is to the left front, and the two are connected by inner gates. The shrine is a tiled gabled-roof building of three bays by two bays, with the 'Hwasan Seowon' plaque on the facade. Inside, the portrait and tablet of Hwang Hui and the tablets of Hwang Bosin and Hwang Jing are enshrined. Hwang Hui's portrait was designated as local Tangible Cultural Heritage No. 129.
