Bonggok Confucian Academy in Nonsan was founded in 1712 (the 38th year of King Sukjong) in Janghan-ri, Yeosan Gongchon-myeon. Abolished by the 1868 edict, it was revived in 1899 under the leadership of Donam Seowon scholars as a memorial altar. The current structure was rebuilt with public funds and government support.
