About this place

Sukjeongmun (肅靖門) is one of the four great gates of the Seoul City Wall and the northern gate of the Fortress of Hanyang. It was first called Sukcheongmun (肅淸門), later renamed Sukjeongmun. Among the surviving city gates, it is the only one where the city wall continues directly to both sides. The gate tower was rebuilt in 1976. Access for the general public was long forbidden for the security of Cheong Wa Dae, but the 0.5 km western wall section and 0.6 km northern approach were reopened together in April 2006. It was designated as part of the Seoul Hanyangdoseong Historic Site on January 21, 1963.
