This is the birthplace of Bojeong Kim Jeonghoe (1903-1970), a scholar and artist who was a descendant of Kim Sahyeong, a founding meritorious subject of the Joseon dynasty. The house has been the family residence since the time of Kim Jeonghoe's great-great-grandfather. The Dosan village where the house is located is a long-standing residential area of the Andong Kim and Cheongdo Kim clans, and thus retains many more traditional houses than other areas; among these, the Gimjeonghoe Historic House is the oldest. The current compound consists of an inner quarters (anchae), men's quarters (sarangchae), a gatehouse, additional men's quarters, a shrine, and a granary. The front-facing six-bay anchae with a hip-and-gable roof has one bay added to each side in later periods. The sarangchae in front of the anchae is a four-bay hip-and-gable structure. The ancillary wing (haengnang-chae), which appears to have been built much later, is a simple three-bay gabled structure. This is a typical upper-class house of the late Joseon period, and descendants still reside there. Exterior viewing is possible; interior viewing requires prior inquiry.
