About this place

Daewon Jeongsa is a small urban temple close to the center of Geumsan town. Originally located near the Onyang Yi Clan's royal calligraphy pavilion (eopi-gak) in Hashinri, it was relocated about 100 meters from its original position during the Japanese colonial period, and then moved again to its current location in 1982. The building has 3 bays wide and 2 bays deep, with a wooden floor inside and a Buddhist altar in the center rear enshrining a Vairocana Buddha statue said to have been moved from Sinan Temple. The foundation features tall cornerstones 93 cm high with short circular pillars, which appear to be replacements made to prevent column decay when the building was moved, rather than original cornerstones. The roof is a distinctive double-eaved hipped-and-gabled style. In 1995, it was designated as a Chungcheongnam-do cultural heritage material.
