About this place

Dolmens are the burial monuments of the Bronze Age ruling class, also known as jiseongmyo. These dolmens are located on the hill behind the village of Ilyongol. The Geumgang River, flowing from Yonghwari, winds in an S-shape around this ridge and exits toward Yeongdong in Chungcheongbuk-do. A total of 12 dolmens have been identified clustering near Geumsan-eup. The capstones are square or irregular, approximately 200 cm across. Stone knives, stone arrowheads, and reddish pottery have been found in the vicinity. Of the 14 dolmens in Geumsan county across the nation, 12 Bronze Age dolmens are at 470-5 Cheonaeri, Jewon-myeon, and 2 are at 502-1 Yonghwari.
