Heungseong Dongheon is a Joseon-era government building located in Heungdeok-myeon, Gochang, near the Seonunsan IC. This building was originally known as the Heungdeok Gaeksa (guesthouse). However, during a dismantling and repair in 1983, a construction record was found inside, revealing that it was actually the dongheon (magistrate's office). The construction record states that the dongheon of Heungseong Eupseong was relocated in 1807 (Sunjo 7th year). Heungseong was the old name for Heungdeok, which was merged into Gochang-gun along with Mujang-myeon in 1914. The Heungseong Donheon is a small and neat building under a single-eave roof, five bays wide and three bays deep. Each end has an ondol room, while the three central bays have wooden floors. Unlike most other facilities where the main hall and side chambers are separate, Heungseong Donheon handled all functions within one building. In 1976, it was designated as a Jeollabuk-do Tangible Cultural Heritage. Nearby attractions include Julpoman Bay, Dongnim Reservoir, Seonunsan, and Seonunsa Temple.
