Sinchang Confucian School is said to have been founded during the reign of King Sukjong (r. 1674–1720), though no documentary record survives. It is generally accepted that it was first built in the 9th year of King Gojong (1872). The surviving buildings include the Daeseongjeon, Myeongnyundang, and residential wings.
