The area of Gosanjeong in Andong is recorded in the "Yeojidoseo" for the outstanding scenery of Gosan (Solitary Mountain), and to the north of Gosan stands Gosanjeong, built in 1564 (the 19th year of King Myeongjong) by Seongjae Geum Nan-su (1530-1604). Gosanjeong is a place where Joseon-era Confucian scholars such as Toegye Yi Hwang and Geum Nan-su exchanged ideas and shared refined pleasures and learning; it is a space of high historical and cultural value, located beneath a cliff along the stream of Gasonghyeop, adjacent to the Yedeon-gil path that Toegye once roamed and the Nongam Head House.
