About this place

Gwirae Pavilion is a traditional gazebo (jeongja) in Sunchang-gun, Jeollabuk-do. Its name derives from the pen name of Sin Mal-ju. The current structure bears a plaque with the Gwirae Pavilion Record and poems by Kang Hui-maeng. The pavilion was reportedly built by Sin Mal-ju in 1457, the 2nd year of King Sejo's reign, though the present building was reconstructed in 1974. It is a three-bay-by-two-bay structure with a hipped-gable (paljak) roof. Nearby attractions include Gangcheonsan County Park, the National Hoemunsan Nature Recreation Forest, and the historic site of the Lady Seol and Scholar Sin Gyeong-jun.
