About this place

Hapdeok Catholic Church is a Catholic church located south of Hapdeok-eup in Dangjin. The first parish in Chungcheong Province, it began as Yangchon Church established in Gonghyeon-ri, Godeok-myeon, Yesan, and moved to its current location in 1899, taking the name Hapdeok Church. In 1929, Father Perrin built a new Gothic-style church building. Situated on a low hill, the church is characterized by twin bell towers at the front. The facade has three entrances and three windows, all topped with rainbow-shaped arches. The outer walls are red brick, while the window frames and tower corners are in grey brick, with grey brick diamond-shaped decorations on the lower part of the windows and each face of the towers. Nearby attractions include Solmoe Catholic Shrine, Hapdeok Reservoir Waterside Park, and the Hapdeok Irrigation Folk Museum.
