About this place

Imjeongsa Temple traces its origins to 1890 (the 27th year of King Gojong), when the monk Sangjin of Usandang served as the head of Gameungsa Temple and established a mission hall. In 1936, the current Geungnakjeon Hall was built with one of the 53 Amitabha Buddha statues from Daegoksa Temple in Uiseong as the main Buddha. The temple compound features a two-story pavilion-style bell tower with a three-story pagoda in front and the Geungnakjeon Hall on an elevated platform, flanked by the Myeongbujeon Hall, quarters, and the single-story quarters building. In the center of the compound stands a stone Avalokitesvara statue with stone lanterns on either side. The old oak and ginkgo trees planted at the time of founding provide shade and comfort to weary souls from the bustling city.
