Jeongamsa

Jeongamsa is a temple located within Buramsan Mountain, on the boundary between Nowon-gu in Seoul and Byeollae-myeon of Namyangju in Gyeonggi Province, and it belongs to the Taego Order of Korean Buddhism. A sign at Jeongamsa states that it houses two Joseon-era cultural properties—Seoul Tangible Cultural Heritage Material No. 54, the Amita Chiljeondo, and No. 322, the Yenyeom Mita Doryang Chambeop—but for various reasons these are currently managed by the cultural heritage authorities. Unlike other temples, it has no Iljumun (One-Pillar Gate). With Daeungjeon (the Main Hall) at the center, Buramsan rises to the left and Jaunbong Peak of Dobongsan faces it to the right, while the downtown of Nowon-gu can be seen below in front. In Yongwangdang, a shrine enshrining the Dragon King who governs rain and water, a Bhaisajyaguru (Medicine Buddha) statue is enshrined, and there is also drinking water. Climbing the mountain path behind Daeungjeon, one finds Sansinjeon (Mountain Spirit Hall) and Gwaneumjeon (Avalokitesvara Hall) inside a rounded, hollowed-out stone cave. Since it lies along a hiking trail of Buramsan, it can be visited during a climb.
