This is the burial site of Admiral Yi Sun-sin (1545–1598), the legendary naval commander who led Korea to victory during the Japanese invasions (Imjin War). The tomb is designated as a historic site and is maintained as a place of national reverence. Yi Sun-sin's remains were initially interred elsewhere before being moved to this location.
