Muju Confucian School was first built in the 7th year of King Taejo (1398) to the north of its current location. Due to damage from tigers, it was moved west of Hyangno Mountain in the 18th year of King Sukjong (1692), but the ground was too damp, and it was relocated again after the 34th year of King Sunjo (1834) to its present site. The current buildings have been repaired several times since. The Daeseongjeon enshrines Confucius and Chinese Confucian scholars.
