Nakwaam (Rock of the Falling Flowers) is a sheer cliff on the north bank of the Baengma River (Geum River) beside Busosan in Buyeo. There is a legend that when the Baekje capital of Sabi was taken by the Silla–Tang allied forces, countless Baekje court women threw themselves into the Baengma River like falling flower petals — hence the name Nakwaam ('falling flowers rock'). In reality, this legend is far removed from the historical facts. The inscription 'Nakwaam (落花岩)' carved on the cliff face, said to have been written by the late Joseon scholar Uam Song Siyeol, remains clearly legible today. The jagged cliff of Nakwaam can be enjoyed by climbing through Busosanseong Fortress and looking out over the Baengma River from the pavilion above, or by gazing up at it from a river cruise on the Baengma River. Below Nakwaam stand Goranssa Temple and the Goranssa ferry landing.
