Buyeo Naseong is a wall encircling the eastern outskirts of Buyeo town, running from Ssangbuk-ri to Yeomchang-ri in Buyeo-eup. It is an outer city wall 8.4 km in circumference built to protect Sabi (Buyeo), the Baekje capital, utilizing the natural terrain to the east and west around the central Busosanseong fortress. It is one of the oldest naseong (outer walls) in Korea, alongside the one in Pyongyang, and is believed to have been built around 538, when the Baekje capital was moved from Ungjin (Gongju) to Sabi. The wall begins at the eastern gate site of Busosanseong and extends to the banks of the Geum River (Baengma River) at Yeomchang-ri, constructed of earth. Today, traces remain faintly: a 20-metre section east of Cheongsan Fortress, segments from Seongmok-ri to the east gate bridge, and from Pilseobong to Yeomchang-ri. The highest peak, Pilseobong, retains the remains of a beacon fire station and building site. Designated as a Historic Site, Buyeo Naseong is also inscribed within the UNESCO World Heritage Baekje Historic Areas.
