The National Garden of Longing for the Homeland (Manghyang Dongsan) was established as a resting place for overseas Koreans, including Korean residents in Japan, who left their homeland due to Japanese imperialism's aggression and died longing for home amid the grief of a lost nation and many hardships. In addition to overseas Koreans, it serves as a resting place for victims of the Japanese military 'comfort women' system and Koreans from Sakhalin, among those forcibly mobilized overseas during the Japanese colonial period. For our descendants, it functions as a historical site that awakens the pain and lessons of national sovereignty loss. Major facilities include a memorial tower, bereaved family waiting room, public relations hall, fountain, and a memorial monument for Japanese military comfort women victims.
