The April 19th National Cemetery at the foot of Samgaksan (Bukhansan) enshrines 224 people who sacrificed their lives during the April 19, 1960 revolution against the regime that committed the 3·15 election fraud, and a memorial tower honoring them stands here. Memorial inscriptions to the righteous dead are carved at the center of the tower. The 135,901 m² grounds are quietly landscaped with pines, junipers, yews and maples; the 1,652.9 m² memorial hall and a Korean-style wooden portrait shrine of 330 m² preserve the spirit of the fallen.
