Seokmungak Pavilion is located in Seokmun-myeon, Dangjin, whose name derives from the Joseon-era place name 'Geomungeum.' It has been a traditional site where locals gather to greet the New Year sunrise and pray for blessings. The current traditional-style pavilion was completed on July 2, 1999 to serve as a peaceful rest area for visitors, with a panoramic view of islands in the sea.
