About this place

Yeominru was a gate pavilion erected at the entrance of the Asan County government office during the Joseon dynasty. Built on a low platform oriented to the east, square-section foundation stones were laid and round columns erected to support an elevated floor. The lower level has three front bays, each fitted with a door to serve as a passageway. Above the side bays, latticework in red is installed, and the side walls are enclosed in paneling. The bracket sets are of the two-arm type without any outer cantilevers; between the pillars beneath the eaves, simplified bracket blocks in flower shapes are arranged — three in the central doorway and two in each side doorway. The roof structure is supported by cross beams laid atop the front and rear columns; on these beams, small blocks and a raised crossbeam support the ridgepole. The ceiling is exposed rafters (yeondeung ceiling), and all surfaces are painted with dancheong (traditional decorative coloring). A signboard reading 「여민루」 (Yeominru) hangs on the front.
