The National Imsil Patriots' Cemetery is located about 12 km from Imsil town center, in the direction of Sunchang and Gangjin, at Baengnyeon-ri. It was established to honor and memorialize the noble deeds of veterans who devoted their lives to defending the country during the Korean War, those who participated in the Vietnam War in support of a free ally nation, and other national merit holders. The cemetery consists of a memorial tower (Hyeonchungtan), a memorial gate (Hyeonchungmun), a main hall (Chungyeolgwan), and a memorial hall (Hyeonchunggwan). The 26-meter-tall central memorial tower is flanked by bas-reliefs of ascending spirits and allegorical groups representing freedom and peace. The main hall serves as the venue for burial ceremonies and includes a 168-seat joint burial ceremony hall and a temporary enshrinement room on the first floor, while the second floor is a defense and patriotism exhibition hall. The Chungyeolgwan was built to enshrine patriots who died before January 1, 2001.
