This is a standing stone Buddha in Yeongin-myeon, Asan-si, carved from a granite slab measuring 265 cm in height and 87 cm in width. There are traces of cement repair on the neck; according to tradition, the neck was severed during the First Sino-Japanese War and repaired in 1945. The head wears a crown, and the egg-shaped face has plump cheeks. The garment covers only the left shoulder, and though the folds are worn and difficult to see, traces of them are visible below the abdomen. The left hand holds a round jewel on the palm, and the right hand is raised before the right chest with the thumb and middle finger touching. Based on the sculpting skill, the shape of the crown, and the facial features, it is estimated to be from the Goryeo period. The Yeongin Stone Buddha is known as the most beautiful Buddha statue in the Asan area. Standing beside it is the Yeongin Five-Story Stone Pagoda.
