These are two memorial gates erected during the Joseon Dynasty in Seosan. The Hyojamun (filial gate) honors Kim Yu-gyeong for his extraordinary filial piety, while the Chunginmun (loyal gate) commemorates Hong Ik for his loyalty. Such commemorative gates were a traditional way to publicly recognize virtue.
