This building is estimated to date from the late 19th century. It is said to have been bestowed by Emperor Gojong upon Yi Jeong-nyeol, who served as a Jikaksa (scholar-official) at the Gyujanggak Royal Library and as a Vice Minister (Champan). The house consists of two groups of buildings arranged in a 'ㅁ' shape. The floor plan generally follows the central Korean style, though the men's quarters of the smaller house incorporate a southern Korean arrangement. The household furnishings are relatively well preserved, and the arrangement of furniture in the men's quarters of the main house retains the graceful lifestyle of the Joseon period. A notable feature is the stone wall enclosing the house, which extends forward from the main gate to create a sense of depth as one approaches.
