Nongam Jongtaek is the house where Scholar Nongam (Yi Hyeon-bo) was born and raised, and where his direct descendants have continued to live for generations. The first person to build this house was Yi Heon of the Yeongcheon Yi clan, the great-great-grandfather of Nongam Yi Hyeon-bo. The main compound, on a site of about 2,000 pyeong, consists of a shrine, inner quarters (anchae), outer quarters (sarangchae), a separate annex, and a gate house, as well as the secondary halls Geunggudang and Myeongnongdang. Geunggudang was built around 1370 by Yi Heon, and Myeongnongdang was built in 1501 when Yi Hyeon-bo was 44 years old to express his desire to retire from public life.
