Seoul Gyeonggyojang (Kim Gu's Headquarters)

Gyeonggyojang, a designated historic site, is both the activity space of the Korean Provisional Government after liberation and the historic scene where Baekbeom Kim Gu passed away. Seoul City restored Gyeonggyojang and created its interior as an exhibition space, opening it to the public on March 2, 2013, using it as a precious space to inform Seoul citizens about modern Korean history. The restoration work removed the altered interior that had been modified during its long use as an embassy and hospital facility after Kim Gu's death in 1949, and wherever the original appearance was well-preserved, it was maximally maintained; where not, restoration was based on architectural drawings published in August 1938. The restored Gyeonggyojang operates as a branch of the Seoul History Museum, where visitors can explore the history of the Korean Provisional Government through artifacts, videos, and kiosks.
