Songnok Seowon, located in Bonghwa-eup, Bonghwa-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, was restored after about 140 years as the place that enshrined the memorial tablets of ten people, including Jiniljae and Master Ryu Seung-jo, who had been enshrined at Songcheon Seowon, Bancheon Seowon, and Baengnok-isa, all of which were demolished in 1868 (the 5th year of King Gojong). This academy was built to honor the virtue of those enshrined and to inherit and develop their profound scholarship and their ideals of loyalty and filial piety.
