Sinan Confucian Academy is a private Confucian educational institution established from the mid-Joseon period onward by local scholars. It was founded in 1588 (the 21st year of King Seonjo) by disciples of Han Ho-gyeom to honor his virtue and scholarship. Destroyed during the Japanese invasions, only the site remained for a long time before it was rebuilt in 1669 (the 10th year of King Hyeonjong). It was demolished again in 1819 and the current buildings were erected in 1841.
