About this place

Uiyeolsa is a shrine enshrining the portraits of patriotic martyrs whose tombs are located within Hyochang Park. It enshrines the portraits of seven national heroes: Kim Gu, President of the Korean Provisional Government; three Provisional Government officials (Yi Dong-nyeong, the first chairman of the Provisional Assembly; Jo Seong-hwan, head of military affairs; and Cha Yi-seok, secretary-general); and the Three Patriots (Yi Bong-chang, Yun Bong-gil, and Baek Jeong-gi). A joint memorial ceremony was held on April 13, 1979, the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Korean Provisional Government, and annual memorial services continue to be held on the anniversary of the Provisional Government's founding.
