Damyang Metasequoia Road
Jeollanam-do
Damyang Metasequoia Road is an approximately 8.5 km tree-tunnel avenue in Hakgyo-myeon, Damyang, South Jeolla Province, where towering metasequoia trees planted decades ago reach heights of 20 to 30 m and form a cathedral-like canopy over the road. The avenue transforms beautifully with each season: a dense green tunnel in spring and summer, a blaze of red and yellow foliage in autumn, and a bare, poetically stark silhouette in winter, making it a year-round destination for drives and strolls. Selected as one of the Ministry of Culture's 100 Most Beautiful Roads in Korea, it has also served as a filming location for numerous Korean dramas and films. Pairing a visit with the adjacent Juknokwon Bamboo Garden makes for a perfect all-day green escape in Damyang.
